PSU Dorms have individual wireless access points in each dorm room for Wi-Fi reception. The access points also have ports available for connecting devices with a network cable. The best connection for any device is always a wired connection. So if your gaming system, media device or Smart TV has a wired network port, it's best to connect to your access point's wired ports (LAN 1-3) with a network cable for optimum performance.
If you will be using the wireless connection, the first thing to do is attempt to connect your device to the "GusNet-Guest" wireless network. The network will attempt to identify the type of media or gaming device you are connecting and automatically allow that device to connect and operate on the PSU wireless network.
Occasionally, the network is not able to properly identify your media or gaming device. If you are still having trouble connecting your device to the PSU wireless network, students will need to provide the MAC address on any game systems, media devices or Smart TV's to connect them to the network. You can do this by submitting a service request or by calling Gorilla Geeks to provide that information. See the instructions below for assistance with finding your device's MAC address.
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR CHROMECAST USERS
Along with connecting your Chromecast to the GusNet-Guest wireless network, users will need to connect whatever device contains the remote control app for the Chromecast to the GUSNet-Guest network as well. The device with the remote control app (phone, computer, iPad) will need to stay connected to GUSNet-Guest as long as you are using your Chromecast.
